Damier Version 3.1.3 beta – Changes
I just pushed a beta build for Damier, bumping the version number from 2.x.x to 3.x.x. The reason is a breaking change in the database: check-ins can now carry notes.
Here is what's new:
Sort activities
If you only track two or three habits, sorting doesn't matter much. But the more activities you add, the more scrolling and squinting it takes to find the one you want to check into. So I added a sort icon in the title bar, letting you sort by name (ascending and descending) or by the most recent check-in. Nothing fancy, just less friction once your list grows.
New layouts for the list
Not everyone wants to see the full waffle-board for every activity, all the time. Some people track a lot of things and just want the list to feel smaller and calmer. That's the idea behind the new layout icon in the title bar. You can now switch between expanded view (the default), a compact view and an extra compact view. Expanded and compact both keep the waffle-board, while extra compact strips it down to just the activity name and a check-in button. Less a feature, more honoring different people with different preferences.
Notes for check-ins
This one's for me. When I track something, I often want to remember what I actually did, not just that I did it. A summary of what I read, for example, or a quick note of why I checked in.
This is the part responsible for the version bump: adding the notes column meant a database migration. It shouldn't affect your existing data, but back up before updating anyway. Migrations are usually fine, right up until they aren't.
That's 3.1.3 beta. If you hit anything odd after updating, especially around the migration, let me know by leaving a review on the Google Play Store or by e-mailing me at damier@lijucay.de.
